Yep, the dreaded day has come. When I was younger, there were not much fuss on Valentine's Day. Me and my single friends would just shrug off those uber commercialized expressions of affection - think bouquets of flowers, balloons, chocolates and what not. The best thing to do was stay at home hah!
Even when I eventually had a boyfriend, it felt like there was nothing special when you are sharing an evening with a whole bunch of couples. It seems to take away the intimacy, the romance and the "moment". There is no authenticity in such cases. Its almost like people are just showing off! It's like people were programmed to treat someone extra special on that single day but for what? Why should the practice be for a single day alone and not for the whole year? Why are these heart balloons and heart candies not made the whole year? Do we really need to be reminded to make one day, just one day, extra special for someone?
Well, I guess it's all just for the hype of the occasion. But still..
